The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a Regulatory and Service Parastatal Organization established under the Atomic Energy Act No. 7 of 2003, which became effective on 1st July 2004.
Objectives of TAEC
1. Improve the Commission's orgnizational process, management, occupational health and support services
2. Upgrade and consolidate the physical and estates infrastructure and its management;
3. Upgrade and consolidate the legal framework and authorization system for effective radiological protection; nuclear safety and security
4. Strengthen the regulatory inspections and enforcement systems for ionizing radiation safety & security;
5. Establish the safety status of Non-Ionizing Radiation (NIR) practices and the necessary interventional measures;
6. Improve the performance of nuclear and related instruments (NI) through repair and preventive maintenance;
7. Upgrade and consolidate the provision of quality Dosimetry services;
8. Improve the coordination and facilitation of Nuclear Technology transfer and Atomic Energy utilization;
9. Improve the protection of the public from environmental radiation and radioactive waste hazards;
10.Improve the Financial Resources Management and Sustainability;
11. Improve Public Relations Marketing and Productivity and the national linkages of TAEC;
12. Establish, strengthen & consolidate the operations of Zonal Offices
